Stir fry Gai Lan & Vegetarian Duck

on

Sorry I’ve disappeared for a week, the Memorial Day weekend and little girl’s last week of Kindergarten meant lots of celebrations. Well today everything’s back to normal! This is a semi-homemade dish, the vegetarian duck is store bought, so I just modified Hong Kong style Gai Lan and stir fried it instead.

1 bunch of Gai Lan, clean thoroughly and cut into 3-4 inch pieces
2 slice ginger, minced (about 1/2-inch thick)
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 T olive oil
Sauce:
3 tablespoons chicken broth
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine or dry sherry
1/2 teaspoon sugar

Heat up oil in wok, stir in garlic and ginger until fragrant, then toss in the Gai Lan, cover fo2 2 minutes. Meanwhile mix all the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl, open the lid and pour the sauce over wilted Gai Lan, stir fry for 30 seconds or until tender. Plate the finished vegetable then place the vegetarian duck on top, serve!

why would you use chicken broth and oyster sauce in a vegetarian dish?

Hi Joe, we are not vegetarians, so I don’t cook with only vegetarian ingredients. We do enjoy lots of tofu based dishes on a weekly basis… Thank you for stopping by!
